Self-determination, self-assertion and pride
Are the rights of all, and not things for which to chide
The identity I have is the crest upon my soul
And if I wish to make adjustments that's within my control
I may not speak for you, but there are so many who feel a need to hide themselves for fear of reprisals in the name of preserving a homogenised society which has never existed.
I can't change the whole world, but I can start with me

For millenia we have stepped upon the rejected
And those we see as other than the norm
We have persecuted and then reflected
upon the barbarity of what we inflicted on
We admire the wondrous tropical birds of multicoloured hue
And then mourn the world is drab grey and permeating gloom
But we are a beautiful species of every colour size and sexuality
So let's light up the world with the spectrum of humanity.
